Rick Sanders earned an MA in Art Education from the University of South Florida, Tampa, in 1985, and has been teaching art ever since. Some time before that he became a professional artist, and long before that he became interested in writing, yet somehow he forgot.
When he was in fifth grade, Rick was the writer, artist, and publisher of Upchuck Magazine. It was a publication of really gross stuff that he created when he actually should have been listening to his teacher. And there was just the one issue. So sad.
Later in life Rick was an Army Intelligence Analyst at the NSA. He was the writer, artist, editor, and publisher of Zoomie/Grunt, a magazine which satired many aspects of military life and the national security initiative during the late seventies. He did this while protecting us from the Commie threat. This rag was much more popular than Upchuck Magazine, but it ended when his enlistment was over. Again, so sad.
Rick retired from Education in June, 2013, and put his paint brushes up long enough to complete his first novel.
They say the third time’s a charm.
